The Warrenville Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of the area. Established in 1833, it began as a mill town. The first mills closed in 1834, and it was a slow and difficult process to get the railroad through the area. In 1902, the Chicago Aurora and Elgin Railroad came through and lasted until the late 1950s. The population of the town was approximately 4,000 at the time it was incorporated.
